Kedarkantha is such a popular winter trek that it would be apt to entitle it as the Queen of Winter Treks. Knee-deep snow in winters, mesmerizing view from the top, and the beautiful and easy trails make it popular among trekkers. The ‘easy on endurance’ trail goes through the thick pine forests of Govind National Park. The views from the top are worth climbing to an altitude of 12,500 ft. Kedarkantha trek will give you an inimitable view of the cosmic sky, lush meadows, snow paths, charming villages, scented pine forest, sky-knocking peaks, tranquil rivers, and some mythological story whispers.

Best Time to Visit: Kedarkantha Trek is Beautiful and Pleasant for whole Year. Best time of year include December to April, Expect trekking on the snow in the mid of December. During winters, Kedarkantha covered in the thick blanket of snow best for skiers.


Trek Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival at Sankri (1,950 m / 6,400 ft); 190 KM drive from Dehradun

The journey will start from Dehradun Railway Station to Sankri at 7.00 am and will take around 9 o’clock. We will drive along the Yamuna via Dehradun and Mussoorie Passes through beautiful deodar forests. Upon reaching Sankri, we will explore the beautiful hamlet Prepare for the trek. Overnight stay at Sankri.

Day 2: Sankri (1,950 m / 6,400 ft) to Juda Ka Talab (2,773 m / 9,100 ft)

After having breakfast, we’ll set out on a moderate hike, which for the most part goes to from the forest. We will go to Solar Village and then climb up until we reach a small pond,A separate pond, which freezes in winter. We’ll be fleeting as we keep climbing up A glimpse of snow-capped Himalayan peaks. An hour more hiking will take us to Grasslands where we will camp overnight, in tents.
 

Day 3: Juda Ka Talab (2,773 m/9,100 ft) to Kedarkantha Base Camp (3,429 m/11,250 ft)

Kedar Kantha base becomes our destination for the day and we start for it post breakfast. Today Will be a busy day for shutterbugs as the trek route is beautiful with open views on all sides And huge snow fields decorated with lush green patches. However, our destination is even higher Impressive. Imagine a huge open, ice field, the size of two football fields, a stream that flows And the misty mountains from the background – this is the Kedar Kantha base where we will Overnight in tents. We told you it was impressive!

Day 4: Kedarkantha Base Camp (3,429 m / 11,250 ft) descends to Kedarkantha peak (3,810 m / 12,500 ft) and down to Hargaon (2,575 m / 8,450 ft).

BASE CAMP – KEDAR KANTHA PEAK (3800M) – JUDA KA TALAB Now imagine, if the Kedar Kantha base is that stunning, what will the view from the summit be like? The distance to the summit is not long but the climb is steep and depending upon the snow conditions then, we will pick the best route − and it will take about 3−4 hours. As for the view from the top − you will be able to see all the mountains of the Yumnotri, Gangotri and the to Juda−ka−Talab or an alternate campsite, depending on which route we choose. Overnight in tents.

Day 5: Hargaon (2,575 m / 8,450 ft) to Sankri (1,950 m / 6,400 ft) hargon sankri to Dehradun 190 km)

JUDA KA TALAB – SANKRI – DEHRADUN / 2 HR TREK / 8 HR DRIVE Today, we have a short trek and drive straight to Dehradun. You will reach Dehradun at 9.00 pm. The glorious trip ends here.
By Air:-
Jolly Grant airport is located 25 kilometers from the city, serving to Dehradun. Daily flight from Delhi to Dehradun.

By Train:-
Take the train from Delhi to Dehradun overnight
Nanda Devi Express(12205):- Departure:- 23:50; Arrival:- 05:40
Dehradun Express(12687):- Departure:- 21:10; Arrival:- 05:00

By Bus:-
Regular bus service is available from Delhi (ISBT Kashmere Gate) to Dehradun. We suggest that you take only government buses from the ISBT Kashmere Gate. Private buses run from outside ISBT Kashmere Gate and they are not trustable.
Usually, the buses left you in the Dehradun ISBT. From there you have to come to Dehradun railway station via Ola/Uber Cab/Auto Rickshaw/Shared Three Wheeler.
There is only one bus run by the Uttrakhand Government on a daily basis from Dehradun Railway Station to Sankri. The timing of the bus: 08:00 AM. You would reach the Sankri by 06:00 PM.

1- Cancellations up to 21 days prior to departure date – 70% refund
2- Between 21 days to 14 days prior to departure – 50% refund
3- Between 14 days to 10 days prior to departure- 30% refund
4- Less than 10 days of departure – No refund or you can transfer your trek (same batch date & same trek) to your dear one.

a) Change of trek batch date is dependent on the availability of seats in the batch.
b) In case of transferring a trek to your dear one, he/she should satisfy all the mandatory requirements lay down by Trekkaro.

Purola has the last ATM point before you reach Sankri (Basecamp) if you need to withdraw money.

Purola is the last place before you reach Sankri (Basecamp) where you’re likely to get a stable mobile signal and at Mori, you’re likely to get Jio Network only. This is about 2 hours before Sankri, the base camp. Finish all your important phone calls here and inform anxious family members about limited phone connectivity.
